The most common way adopted by car enthusiast of measuring how much lowering effect after changing lowering spring was by poking fingers in between the gap of tyre and fender. This method undeniable was the most convenient way as not everyone carry measurement tape everywhere, however the outcome of such method may vary between vehicle and even measuring at different time of the same vehicle due to the factors listed below. Therefore this method is OK as an indication of the height difference before and after installation of lowering spring on the same vehicle within specific time frame.
Factors which effect the outcome:
Upon coil spring replacement, it is recommended to measure vehicle height after driving it for a period of time over rough road and road undulation making sure to stroke the suspension enough to let absorber and relevant bushes and rubbers to set back to its original positon under load to obtain the correct vehicle height.
Most of the cases whereby wrong perception directing to coil spring sagging (dropped in height) comparing against vehicle height right after a coil spring replacement before the car being driven. This is because jacking the car up during coil spring replacement will unload and relieve all deformation and stress from all bushes and rubbers, and therefore those parts needed time to deform back to its original state after loading it with vehicle weight and stroking the suspension.
